About Systol Dynamics

A French start-up based in Marseilles, Systol Dynamics is developing an innovative ventricular assist device intended for minimally invasive implantation in patients suffering from congestive heart failure. After securing initial financing, we are now looking for a highly‑motivated Senior R&D Engineer to conduct the R&D activities and deliver the first generation of our new implant.

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Conduct product development in accordance with the objectives set by the management and formulate innovative technical solutions as required
  • Define technical specifications based on user requirements
  • Oversee design and simulation of individual components
  • Manage daily relationship with technical subcontractors and suppliers
  • Recruit and manage research and development team, in collaboration with the director of R&D
  • Plan, set-up, and execute experimental studies in compliance with state-of-the-art practices
  • Ensure that R&D activities are performed in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and SOPs

Profile

Competencies

  • Fundamental knowledge in fluid mechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, and/or biomechanics
  • Project and people management
  • Thorough knowledge of medical device development concepts, methods, and standards
  • Writing of technical documents (including technical specifications, test protocols, test reports)

Skills

  • Good team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Fluent in another European language—preferably French or German
  • Strong computer skills

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the development of active implantable medical devices (AIMDs)
  • Previous experience in cardiovascular field, preferably cardiac insufficiency
  • Use of CAD and CFD platforms

Education

  • Engineer or PhD in biomedical, life sciences, or equivalent
