Job description

In a multidisciplinary and multi-domain context, we need your knowledge, enthusiasm, and capabilities to develop our activities in the field of networking for embedded critical   systems. We offer you a stimulating work environment where you will conduct research guided by industrial needs and turn your ideas into industrial technical solutions.

Your first mission concerns a new research project aimed at evaluating and designing the components of a deterministic Ethernet network based on the TSN standard. The project consortium includes several major industrial companies designing and manufacturing avionics, space and automotive systems, and renowned laboratories in the domain of networking. References [1] and [2] will give you more details about some of the scientific challenges addressed in the first iteration of project.

Within the scope of this project, you will have to:

  1. Contribute technically to the project, i.e.,

    • Provide scientific and technical expertise in communication network analysis (temporal analysis, configuration, optimization, etc.).

    • Contribute to research activities, including academic publications.

  2. Manage the project, i.e.,

    • Coordinate the project team and, in particular, orchestrate the collaboration between our industrial and academic partners.

    • Define and ensure the achievement of the project’s scientific and technical objectives in accordance with cost, time, and quality requirements

  3. Contribute to the development of our activities about embedded networks

    • Anticipate the needs of industrial partners, identify technical and scientific challenges, propose new research axes, and contribute to setting up new development to support them.

    • Participate in the development of our scientific and technical roadmap.

Beyond this first mission, we propose the opportunity to collaborate with our researchers in Machine Learning, System Engineering and Modeling, Software and hardware for critical systems, etc.,  to find innovative ways to design, configure and optimize communication and processing architectures. If you have ideas, you will be given the possibility to make them become reality!

Profile

As a PhD holder in the field of networks or embedded systems, you want to combine your strong interest in solving scientific and technical problems with the possibility to lead and orchestrate a team of engineers and researchers. You may have previous experience as a Project Manager but, if not, you surely possess the motivation to assume this role in an R&D environment.

Required Theoretical and Technical Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of real-time systems and embedded networks (architecture, topology, protocols, network configuration).

  • Knowledge of System on Chip platforms, Linux, real-time operating systems.

  • Familiarity with network databases and network configuration.

  • Sensitivity to safety and certification issues.

  • Successful experience in implementing Ethernet communication in a real-time environment.

  • Familiarity with development and configuration environments.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++.

  • Good technical level in English (written and spoken)
