With a global presence with 70 offices across 30 countries and a history of providing top-tier legal services, they are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead their financial operations in their Paris office.

This is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic and collaborative team, where your expertise will contribute to their continued success in the legal industry.

Position Overview

As a Senior Finance Manager in their Paris office, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations, strategy, and growth of their firm.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with partners, lawyers, and staff, and lead a dedicated team of 5 finance professionals. You will work in a matrix structure with a direct reporting line into UK based Finance Leadership Team.

Your responsibilities will include financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and providing strategic financial guidance to support their firm's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive financial performance and profitability, with particular emphasis on firm wide KPIs including activity levels, leverage, client profitability & rate performance and working capital management;

  • Monthly performance reviews and delivery of key insights to senior business and Finance stakeholders;

  • Continuous improvement and evolution of insights to meet the needs of a fast paced and demanding Leadership team including advance visibility of risks & opportunities;

  • Budgeting, forecasting and ongoing development of rolling three year financial plans and the strategic actions to deliver on profit improvement targets;

  • Prepare business case for lateral hires;

  • Adhoc special projects for example restructure planning, business cases, commercial contract and benefit reviews;

  • Leading a substantial Finance team across the key disciplines of Financial Control & Compliance, Performance Reporting, Working Capital and Billing;

  • Working in consultation with external advisors and the Group Tax team to ensure compliance with all aspects of regulatory reporting and tax requirements including Partnership tax filings and VAT compliance & accounting;

  • Ensure production of timely financial accounting information for French and UK requirements;

  • Oversight of the financial control function and delivery of initiatives in consultation with Group Financial Control to strengthen the control environment and ensure compliance with local requirements;

  • Collaborating across the local support functions (HR, Facilities, Marketing & BD) to ensure cross functional alignment on key priorities;

  • Driving adherence to Financial Protocols and performance across key financial hygiene metrics including monthly billing & cash targets, aged WIP & debt management, lock up and matter management;

  • Cash flow & treasury management and acting as key point of contact with local Banks ;

  • Driving the quarterly assessment of carrying values of WIP and debt including expectation management across both business and Finance stakeholders;

  • Sharing of knowledge and contributing to the ongoing education of business stakeholders in the area of law firm economics and key performance levers;

  • People Management: Supervise work of the team. Lead, coach and motivate team to perform the highest capacity. Team engagement and role modelling of firm wide values.

Profil recherché


You will be degree qualified, hold a professional accountancy qualification and ideally have prior experience in a professional services firm.

 To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Drive, resilience, energy, enthusiasm and commitment

  • Extensive experience operating at and influencing senior management levels, with strong communication and commercial skills

  • Initiative and resourcefulness, demonstrated by a willingness to collaborate across teams and solve complex problems

  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to influence and win trust at all levels

  • Experience of French GAAP

  • Fluent in French and English
