At Ascendance we are building tomorrow’s hybrid-electric aviation with ATEA, a unique Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft powered by STERNA, our in-house hybrid-electric propulsion system. Your role : 🔎
You will have an important role in Overall Aircraft Design team which is responsible for flight physics activities. As an aerothermal and internal aerodynamics engineer you will be in charge of inlet / outlet and cooling aerodynamics and thermal studies from design to flight tests.
Your main responsibilities will be :
Performing CFD studies for the design and the validation of air inlets and outlets, as well as ventilation needs
Leading aerothermal studies for heat transfer analysis on the full aircraft
Testing cooling systems through simulations and data analysis vs experiments
Assessing and improving air inlets and cooling strategy at aircraft level to minimize impact on performance
Resolving any technical issues on prototype aircraft before first flight
Complying with certification requirements
Leading the definition of aerothermal activities for the final product
Interfacing with Ascendance team (airframe, propulsion,…) to identify most optimal solutions
Where do we stand?
You will be entering the team during a crucial part of our development. Full scale test benches are running, while full scale aircraft development is running at full speed with many design decisions to take to improve the aerodynamic performance and consolidate the aircraft behavior knowledge.

A master degree from Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of experience in aerodynamics/internal flow physics
Skills in various levels of modeling with multidisciplinary skills
Experience in thermal/aerothermal analysis
Testing experience (windtunnel testing, ground or flight tests)
Experience in Catia
Knowledge of OpenFoam or similar CFD software is a plus
