
At Ascendance we are building tomorrow’s hybrid-electric aviation with ATEA, a unique Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft powered by STERNA, our in-house hybrid-electric propulsion system. Your role :
Central to Ascendance’s hybrid propulsion systems, you will design and deliver reliable BMS electronics, ensuring safe operation of high-voltage battery packs while meeting functional and certification requirements.
Your main responsibilities will be :
Integrate & Validate BMS Hardware: source, integrate, and test off-the-shelf BMS components to achieve near-term project milestones, delivering full validation reports.
Architect Bespoke BMS Solutions: design and prototype custom BMS boards optimized for power, weight, and safety.
Full Hardware Lifecycle Management: lead schematic design, PCB layout, testing, and ensure smooth manufacturing hand-off.
Safety & Performance Assurance: implement and verify safety features, fault-tolerance, and high-voltage system compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with systems, software, and certification teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance.

Full scale testbenches are ongoing while full scale aircraft development is running at full speed.
The job has been made for you if you have :
Aerospace Standards Compliance knowledges: proven expertise in designing multi-layered PCBs to certification standards (e.g., DO-254, IPC Class 3).
An exeprience with DO160 equipment qualification.
High-Voltage/Current Systems experience : with 400V-800V+ architectures, EMI/EMC mitigation, and thermal management.
Safety & Redundancy skills: portfolio demonstrating fault-tolerant, redundant, and fail-safe designs for aviation.
Supply Chain & Integration experience : qualifying COTS components and managing manufacturing hand-off for custom designs.
Data & Communication Systems skilss : hands-on experience with CAN bus, LIN, SPI, etc., for system integration.
