Cloud Security Solution Architect (F/M/X)

The Cyber & Security Division of Leonardo Belgium, part of the Leonardo group, focuses on mission-critical services for Institutional organizations, such as NATO.

Based in Brussels, our team operates at the heart of the Institutional ecosystem, supporting high-impact initiatives in close coordination with our engineering and delivery teams across Europe.

As part of an ambitious Cloud Security programme, we are looking for a Cloud Security Solution Architect to help design and secure the migration of complex infrastructures to classified environments.

This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy designing secure architectures, solving complex technical challenges, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams in highly demanding international environments

Job specifications

• Location: Brussels (On-site and near-site)

• Start date: ASAP, early applications are heavily encouraged

• Type of contract: Freelance (Employment is also possible)

• Active NATO Secret Clearance preferred, or at least eligibility to obtain one (citizen of a NATO member state)

As a Security Solution Architect, you will play a key role in designing secure Cloud solutions supporting the migration of critical systems towards classified environments.

Working closely with the Technical Project Lead and other technical stakeholders, you will contribute to the security architecture, Cloud engineering, resilience strategy, and technical solutioning throughout the project.

You will:

• Design secure Cloud architectures aligned with customer and security requirements

• Lead the technical solutioning activities for Cloud Security initiatives

• Define cybersecurity architecture and engineering approaches for complex Cloud environments

• Contribute to security-by-design principles across the entire solution lifecycle

• Support Cloud migration, integration, validation and technical implementation activities

• Produce and review architecture documentation, security documentation and technical deliverables

• Collaborate closely with architects, Cloud engineers, cybersecurity specialists and project teams

• Participate in technical workshops and design reviews with internal teams and customer representatives

• Support technical risk analysis and contribute to cyber resilience strategies

• Ensure proposed solutions comply with security standards, governance requirements and project objectives

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Security Architect, Cloud Security Architect, Solution Architect, or similar position

• Experience designing secure Cloud solutions or infrastructure projects in international environments

• Experience working within multidisciplinary technical teams

• Previous experience in highly regulated or security-sensitive environments is considered an asset

Education & Certifications

• Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity) or equivalent professional experience

• Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications are considered a strong plus

• Cloud Security, Systems Engineering or Architecture certifications are appreciated

Core skills

• Strong expertise in Cloud Security architecture and secure solution design

• Solid expertise in Microsoft Azure is required; experience with AWS is considered an asset

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity architecture principles and security-by-design methodologies

• Experience producing architecture documentation and technical specifications

• Ability to analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into secure technical solutions

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Knowledge in one or more of the following domains:

• Cloud Security and governance

• Microsoft Azure Cloud

• Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• Hybrid and multi-cloud environments

• Kubernetes and container platforms

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

• API Management and integration platforms

• Cloud migration and modernization strategies

Languages

• Professional English required (C1 preferred)

• Italian is considered a strong asset, and French would be nice to have

Nice to have:

• Experience working in NATO, Defense, Space, or EU Institutional environments

• Familiarity with Cloud Security Operations or SOC environments

• Exposure to Systems Engineering or technical governance approaches

• Experience working on projects involving classified or sensitive environments

• Knowledge of standards such as ISO 27001, TOGAF, ITIL, STANAG or similar
