Leonardo Belgium is supporting a major European Institution in strengthening its cyber defense, security architecture, and resilience capabilities.

You will join a high-impact cybersecurity environment where secure design, strategic alignment, and long-term resilience are critical. The role sits at the core of cybersecurity architecture, with direct ownership on defining and driving secure solutions across a complex, multi-site and hybrid infrastructure.

This is not a purely technical design role, you will combine technical expertise, leadership, and stakeholder interaction in a highly regulated, international environment to drive architecture decisions. This role is suited for experienced cybersecurity professionals who have operated in high-stakes environments and are comfortable taking the lead and shaping secure-by-design strategies.

Job description

As Cybersecurity Architect Lead, you will own and drive the design and evolution of secure architectures, ensuring alignment between business objectives, risk management, and security requirements. You will coordinate efforts to translate business needs into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions, aligned with the client’s strategic priorities.

You will:

  • Lead the definition and evolution of cybersecurity architecture and security solutions

  • Design secure architectures aligned with business objectives and security requirements

  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts (models, patterns, standards, templates) across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments

  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical security controls

  • Analyse risks and design mitigation strategies aligned with acceptable risk levels

  • Lead the selection and integration of security technologies within the existing ecosystem

  • Ensure architectural compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2

  • Drive secure integration across systems, platforms, and environments

  • Conduct architecture risk assessments and security reviews

  • Provide strategic security guidance to projects and stakeholders

  • Interface with stakeholders to define and validate security solutions the collection and handling of digital evidence in line with forensic standards

Profile

Experience / Education / Certification Requirements

  • Proven experience leading or coordinating cybersecurity architecture activities within complex, large-scale environments

  • Experience designing secure architectures across cloud, hybrid, and enterprise systems

  • Previous exposure to EU institutions or regulated environments is a plus

  • A degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is considered an asset

  • At least one cybersecurity-related certification

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to lead and coordinate under pressure

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Structured, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment

  • Strong command of English, French and/or Italian are assets

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of security architecture frameworks and methodologies

  • Expertise in cloud security, network security, and enterprise security design

  • Proficiency in threat modeling and risk assessment

  • Understanding of Zero Trust, AI security, IoT security architectures

  • Ability to translate technical risks into business-aligned security decisions

  • Experience with security standards and regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2)

  • Strong technical and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Excellent reporting and stakeholder communication skills
