About Artelys

Joining Artelys means, above all, becoming part of a stimulating environment, made up of passionate experts and giving yourself the opportunity to take part in projects addressing various complex issues, notably addressing the major challenges of our time.

Artelys implements quantitative decision-support solutions, involving decision science models and algorithms; statistics, data analysis, artificial intelligence, numerical optimisation, and operations research. Its activities are applied to key sectors such as Energy, Transport, Mobility, Health, and more broadly the public sector, positioning Artelys as a majorplayer in the ecological transition through the support and guidance it provides to private companies and public institutions.

Here are some examples of recent projects carried out by Artelys:

  •  TenneT grid is at the heart of the energy transition and will be even more so in the future. Increased electricity demand and production, variable and more unpredictable production peaks due to renewable energy in centralised and decentralised  growing cross-border exchanges all increase the demand for transport capacity and cause congestion if no measures are taken. Thanks to the GridOptions tool, we can help operators and operational planners from D-1 to real-time to tackle the challenges mentioned above and anticipate when and where these congestions will occur.

  • As part of the Artelys Crystal suite, Artelys has developed a computation service that allows for the execution of complex workflows and the production of associated indicators to support decision-making in the energy sector. With its cutting-edge architecture, this computing service combines numerical optimisation, large-scale data science, cloud technologies, and high-performance computing (HPC), offering a robust and efficient platform to solve complex problems related to energy systems.

Job description

Within a dynamic, high-level team, you will contribute to both R&D and client projects, focused on data valorisation, as well as the design and implementation of operational software relying on advanced Optimisation and Machine Learning:

  • Design and develop innovative and high-performance software solutions addressing industrial challenges, primarily using the Python language and a microservices architecture.

  • Gather user and business needs to design data collection and storage solutions best suited to the presented use cases.

  • Develop technical solutions for data collection, cleaning, and processing, then industrialise and automate them.

  • Contribute to setting up technical architectures based on Data or even Big Data environments.

  • Carry out development work aimed at industrialising and orchestrating computations (statistical and optimisation models) and participate in software testing and qualification.

Profile

Required Skills:

  • You hold a degree from a top engineering school or a high-level university program.

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in designing and developing data-driven solutions. with high business impact, particularly in industrial or large-scale environments.

  • You have excellent command of Python for both application development and data processing, with strong expertise in libraries such as Pandas, Polars, NumPy, and the broader Python Data ecosystem.

  • You have experience implementing data processing pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Databricks, Dask, or flow orchestrators integrated into production environments.

  • You have contributed to large-scale projects combining data analysis, workflow orchestration, back-end development (REST APIs and/or Messaging), and industrialisation, within a DevOps/DevSecOps-oriented framework. You apply best practices in quality, testing, documentation, security, and performance..*

  • You are proficient in using Docker for processing encapsulation and deployment. Experience with Kubernetes for orchestrating workloads in cloud-native architectures. You are motivated by practical applications of data in socially valuable sectors such as energy, mobility, or health, and thrive in environments where autonomy, rigour, curiosity, and teamwork are valued.

Preferred Skills:

  • You are comfortable with managing relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (such as MongoDB, Elasticsearch), and know how to integrate them into robust and secure processing chains.

  • You have hands-on experience managing large or semi-structured files (CSV, JSON, Parquet) via object storage such as AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, or alternatives, in connection with data platforms and distributed processing.

Fluency in English and French is required.

Working conditions:

  • Permanent contract, managerial status with a 4-month probationary period.

  • Up to 2 days of remote work per week possible.
