Embedded Software Quality Engineer (all gender)

At Ascendance we are building tomorrow’s hybrid-electric aviation with ATEA, a unique Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft powered by STERNA, our in-house hybrid-electric propulsion system. We focus our efforts in designing an innovative, safe, silent, clean and affordable aircraft that will be able to blend into existing infrastructures and regulations to ease its deployment and maximise social acceptance.

Your role: 🔎

Reporting directly to the Overall System Design team Leader, the Embedded Software Quality Engineer is at the core of our constrained avionics systems providing control, communication, data exchange and HMI to guarantee reliable flight operations, by respecting the functional requirements as well as aeronautics authority’s constraints.

Your main responsibilities will be to: 

• Ensure compliance with standards (DO178/DO331/DO254),

• Discuss the applicability of these standards with the certification bodies (mainly EASA),

• Liaise with them to obtain the permit to fly,

• Contribute to warrant the DO178C certification path for our embedded software.

• More generally support the application of ARP4754, ARP4761, DO160, D0331, D0254, etc. for hardware and software development, 

• Ensure applicable safety standards are respected through our software development process,

• Contribute to improve our avionics software process development,

• Support embedded computer selection.

Full scale testbenches are ongoing while full scale aircraft development is running at full speed.

• Mandatory: Have significant experience in DO178C project as well in ARP’s and DO’s related to embedded software and hardware, 

• Mandatory: Have significant experience in coding algorithms in C under constrained environments,

• Mandatory: Knowledge in model-based design (Matlab/Simulink and/or SCADE),

• Have hardware experience for embedded computer as well as in electronics and network communication protocols,

• Have a hands-on innovative approach to embedded software engineering with a taste for challenging problems.

Characteristics of the function:

• Master or equivalent in Software Engineering,

• Experience in designing cutting-edge software developments under DO178 environments,

• Previous experience in designing embedded software for a vehicle application,

• Extensive experience in software development and verification,

• Experience in developing real-time applications,

• Work experience in an international environment,

• Work experience in hardware computer specificities,

• Work experience in network protocols for inter system communication.
