Job description

The Role


The Head of Content holds a pivotal role within SamBoat's marketing team, accountable for the formulation and oversight of the content strategy and team. This position reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of SamBoat. 

The mission of this role is to deliver high-quality, engaging content in 9 languages. 


Your Responsibilities:

Content Strategy, planning and budget management:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the content strategy, encompassing various formats and platforms, with a primary focus on online channels. This strategy should be aligned with our vision and goals.

  • Plan, implement and manage end-to-end email campaigns, including newsletters and automatic communications. This will represent approximately 30% of the role’s mission

  • Craft engaging, inspiring, relevant and accurate content through compelling storytelling. Showcase customer success stories to both B2B and B2C audiences, demonstrating thought leadership

  • Ensure consistency in brand and communication across acquisition and retention efforts for all the markets in which we operate

  • Establish robust processes and measurement systems to facilitate the scalability of content creation in a sustainable manner

  • Set clear and measurable goals for all content initiatives, including increasing the reach of our communications, the engagement they produce, and the constant growth of our audiences (database size, social profiles reach, etc)

  • Stay current of industry trends

Team Management:

  • Recruit, lead and nurture a team of content specialists, with diverse profiles and experience levels

  • Provide support for training initiatives, both within the marketing team and across other departments within the company

  • Take charge of leading the team, conducting weekly 1:1 meetings with team members to foster open communication and address development needs

Content Creation, Localisation and Translation:

  • Work closely with the team to coordinate diverse content plans and calendars tailored to our various channels and markets

  • Create and manage engaging newsletter programmes, leveraging the right tools and processes (web technologies, analytics, copywriting, etc)

  • Create high-quality content, spanning blog articles, landing pages, and more, in alignment with the content strategy

  • Ensure the content creation process and its outcomes are optimised for search engines, maintaining SEO-friendly practices

  • Maintain brand consistency and a unified tone of voice across diverse  markets and channels

  • Implement best practices for multi-language, multi-country content strategies and tactics, including overseeing translation and localisation processes and utilising appropriate tools

Quality assurance, analysis and reporting:

  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, forecast, report and optimise content performance based on relevant KPIs. Utilise appropriate analytics tools for each need

  • Ensure that the quality of the produced, shared and published content aligns with the expectations of our stakeholders (including clarity, grammar, and spelling), both internal and external. Tailor content nuances to the specific markets in which we operate

  • Champion a data-driven decision-making process within the team. Assist the team in leveraging data to inform and guide decisions

  • Collaborate with colleagues from various teams, including marketing, sales, operations, tech and senior management

  • Proactively share results, insights, optimisations, and upcoming opportunities proactively to foster cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement

Profile

Requirements

  • Proven track record in content marketing, with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in successfully delivering value with the responsibilities of the role

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English

  • Proficiency in additional languages, especially French and Spanish is highly advantageous

  • Strong copywriting, project management and organisational skills

  • Data driven Approach: Possess familiarity with analytics tools and a solid understanding of digital marketing trends

  • Industry Familiarity: Knowledge of the boating and travel sectors is highly recommended, holding a boating licence is an advantage

  • The preferred location for the ideal candidate is either Barcelona or Bordeaux
