Job description

We are looking for an experienced Head of Power Unit (PU) Engineering to lead the strategic and operational support of all power unit systems across multiple racing programs, including ICE, hybrid, and battery systems. You will ensure performance, reliability, and lifecycle management through test bench operations, track testing, and race support.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the PU Engineering team across multiple motorsport platforms.

  • Define team goals, KPIs, and ensure alignment with program objectives.

  • Provide technical mentorship and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight

  • Manage calibration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of PU systems.

  • Develop and implement PU management strategies and calibration procedures.

  • Oversee test planning and execution for PU components.

  • Monitor engine, hybrid, and gearbox data during tests and events.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve technical issues related to reliability and performance.

  • Coordinate with race teams, test operations, and development departments.

Event & Trackside Support

  • Supervise PU operations during race events, including fire-ups, roll-outs, and live data monitoring.

  • Liaise with race engineers and drivers to ensure PU systems meet performance and drivability targets.

  • Coordinate powertrain mechanics and ensure smooth execution of PU-related tasks.

Profile

We are looking for a highly experienced powertrain engineer with at least 10 years in motorsport and a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role. You have deep technical knowledge of ICE, hybrid, and high-voltage systems, proven experience in high-performance motorsport programs (LMDh, LMH, F1), and strong leadership skills. You are analytical, communicative, and able to manage teams under the pressure of race weekends.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (Ph.D. is a plus).

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Flexible with travel and long hours during events.
