About the role:
Massilly is seeking a Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist to champion our safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous program improvement. Collaborating across departments, you will establish safety standards, deliver workforce training, and evaluate performance to maintain a safe, high-performing environment. What you’ll do:
Drive and champion Massilly’s proactive workplace safety culture.
Support the implementation of our health and safety management software system.
Assist the Health & Safety Lead in developing and executing corporate safety strategies, business plans, and special projects.
Serve as a key advisor to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), including facilitating monthly meetings and supporting initiatives.
Develop, implement, and maintain core H&S programs (e.g., WHMIS, Contractor Management, Safe Observations).
Lead and coordinate the facility’s Industrial Hygiene and Emergency Response Planning programs.
Oversee hazard assessment processes, including Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and corrective action planning.
Manage safety audit and inspection processes to ensure continuous regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
Conduct H&S orientations and required training for new employees, temporary workers, and contractors.
Create and distribute safety resources, monthly performance reports, and weekly/monthly safety talks.
Organize PPE programs, including deployment, proper fit testing (e.g., respiratory fit testing), storage, maintenance, and usage training.
Support thorough incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and follow-up action tracking.
Manage WSIB claims and lead the safe Return-to-Work (RTW) process for injured employees.
Track and analyze trends within the Safe Observation program to address risks proactively.
Immediately report all potential food safety contamination risks to plant management in accordance with facility standards.
Recommend and process purchase orders to ensure adequate stock and availability of approved safety equipment and PPE.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline preferred.
Solid understanding of Ontario health and safety legislation (OHSA) and applicable safety standards.
Hands-on experience with WSIB reporting, claims management, and Return-to-Work (RTW) protocols.
Strong proficiency in conducting risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard management, and safety auditing.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with experience facilitating safety training and presentations.
Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) or equivalent office software.
Exceptional organizational skills, time management, and acute attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Compensation Package: $65,500 - $70,000 CAD annually + Profit Share Eligibility
