Job description

Position: Instrument Field Engineer Location: Côte d'Ivoire Start Date: February 2026 Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off or 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off Reports to: Field Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review instrumentation documents available on-site and address the Field Engineering Manager for any required changes or corrections.

  • Evaluate site technical queries and/or deviation requests prepared by subcontractors or clients, and prepare appropriate technical responses.

  • Resolve any technical issues related to instrumentation engineering documents or vendor documentation through direct coordination with vendors.

  • Provide redlined (marked-up) copies of engineering and vendor documents to facilitate ongoing site construction activities.

  • Attend meetings with clients and end-users to clarify any technical issues related to instrumentation engineering documentation.

  • Monitor and evaluate bulk material shortages, with support from local procurement teams.

  • Perform bulk material selection in case of local material supply constraints on-site.

  • Assist subcontractors’ technical teams with any technical challenges that may arise during erection works.

  • Collaborate with the commissioning and start-up departments to resolve instrumentation-related technical issues with vendors.

  • Work with the Project Engineering Manager to provide technical feedback to the instrumentation department head, focusing on improving the efficacy and efficiency of standard procedures and instructions.

Profile

Ideal Candidate Profile: Field Instrumentation Engineer

Experience and Key Skills:

  • Professional Experience:

    • Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Field Instrumentation Engineer or similar role, preferably in industrial projects (oil and gas, energy, chemical plants, etc.).

    • Proven experience in reviewing instrumentation documents on-site and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.

    • Ability to address technical queries and prepare technical responses for subcontractors or clients.

    • Experience in resolving technical issues related to instrumentation engineering or vendor documentation through direct coordination.

    • Experience in providing redlined copies of engineering and vendor documents to support site construction activities.

  • Technical Skills:

    • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and measurement systems.

    • Ability to review and approve technical documents (loop diagrams, instrument specifications, installation plans, etc.).

    • Experience in attending client meetings to clarify technical issues related to instrumentation documentation.

    • Proficiency in assisting subcontractors’ technical teams with on-site challenges during installation.

    • Familiarity with commissioning procedures and instrumentation testing.

  • HSE and Quality Competencies:

    • Awareness of HSE standards and ability to ensure compliance on-site.

    • Experience in quality control and adherence to safety regulations during instrumentation activities.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments.

    • Leadership and ability to mentor junior engineers or technical teams.

    • Fluent in technical English (spoken and written). Knowledge of French is a plus.

  • Education:

    • Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s or equivalent).

    • Certifications in instrumentation systems (e.g., ISA, TÜV) or project management (PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus.

  • Availability:

    • Available for a mission in Côte d'Ivoire starting February 2026.

    • Willing to work on a 4/4 or 5/5 rotation schedule.

Differentiating Assets:

  • Prior experience in West Africa or similar environments.

  • Knowledge of local regulations in Côte d'Ivoire (a plus).

  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects.

  • Familiarity with specific instrumentation software or tools used in your projects.
