Job Summary:
In this role, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the maintenance department to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment and facility systems. This role manages a multi-skilled team of millwrights and electricians, driving preventive maintenance programs, minimizing downtime, and optimizing equipment performance. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in developing standard operating procedures, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives while aligning maintenance activities with overall production goals.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Oversee all the mechanical and electrical repair activities
Manage departmental efficiency
Oversee scheduling and work order system
Implement and track plans to reduce production downtime
Lead the development and implementation of SOPs and safety procedures
Manage the maintenance team, including oversight of the Electrical Lead Hand
Participate in departmental recruitment activities
Conduct annual performance appraisals for the maintenance department
Participate on Continuous Improvement teams
Research, develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Provide backup support for contractor invoicing and payment systems
Manage time & Attendance for hourly maintenance team members
Collaborating with maintenance coordinator on parts inventory
Support the development of millwright apprentices
What you will bring:
Fully licensed Millwright; an electrical license is considered an asset.
10 years experience within a maintenance related role in manufacturing is preferred
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
Basic tooling experience
Project Management experience considered an asset
Experience with web-based PM program (CMM, MaintainX, SAP)
Parts Inventory Control experience
Intermediate skills with computers and business software (Microsoft, Google Suite)
Lean Manufacturing experience (5S, Six Sigma) is an asset
Intermediate math skills
High Tech operational experience / Robotics / Machine Rebuilding.
