Billy-Berclau Permanent

About Automotive Cells Company (ACC)

Automotive Cells Company (ACC) is a joint venture created in the summer of 2020, supported by Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, and Saft (a subsidiary of TotalEnergies). Our ambition is to produce electric batteries at the highest technological level while developing cleaner and more accessible mobility for all.

🔋 We are proud to manufacture, in our Billy-Berclau Gigafactory, the batteries that already power several electric vehicles available on the market (PEUGEOT E-3008 and E-5008, Opel Grandland, DS N°8, Citroën C5 AirCross, and Jeep Compass).

Since 2023, Block 1 of our Billy-Berclau / Douvrin Gigafactory has entered production. This first block marks a decisive milestone in the site’s history: after the launch of the first production lines, we are now engaged in a ramp-up phase—an essential step toward reaching full industrial capacity.

This period is marked by major technical and human challenges: ensuring process reliability, optimizing performance, strengthening skills, and embedding a culture of operational excellence.
To support this industrial acceleration, we are recruiting dynamic and passionate teams across Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, HSES, and Logistics.

⚡️ Joining Block 1 means taking part in the very heart of ACC’s industrial development and contributing every day to the success of our Gigafactory.

Job description

🔋 Join ACC and be part of shaping the future of electric mobility. Our batteries already power the PEUGEOT E-3008 and E-5008, Opel Grandland, DS N°8, Citroën C5 Aircross and Jeep Compass — and soon, Mercedes!

About the role

As part ACC’s strategy to internalize critical Manufacturing Execution System (MES) competencies and Manufacturing Operations Management (MoM) capabilities, we are seeking an experienced AVEVA MES / MOM Architect to define, govern, and evolve the architecture of our manufacturing digital platform supporting battery Gigafactory operations.

This role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the target-state architecture of ACC’s AVEVA-based MES ecosystem, ensuring alignment between manufacturing operations, business objectives, industrial standards, and long-term digital transformation initiatives. The architect will provide technical leadership across the full application lifecycle, from solution design and integration strategy through development governance, deployment, supportability, and continuous platform evolution.

Acting as the technical authority for MES and manufacturing operations solutions, the successful candidate will define architectural standards, development frameworks, reusable design patterns, and integration principles while ensuring scalability, reliability, maintainability, cybersecurity, and operational excellence across all manufacturing environments.

The role combines solution architecture, software engineering leadership, industrial digitalization expertise, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, IT, Data, Cybersecurity, and external technology partners to build a sustainable, future-proof, and internally owned manufacturing platform.

In addition, the architect will play a key role in building knowledge from external partners to ACC teams, developing internal competencies, reducing dependency on external integrators, and helping establish a long-term Manufacturing Digital Center of Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

MES / MOM Architecture Ownership

  • Own and maintain the target-state architecture of ACC's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MoM) ecosystem

  • Define the architecture vision, technology roadmap, and evolution strategy supporting Gigafactory operations and future manufacturing expansion.

  • Establish and govern architecture principles, technical standards, reusable frameworks, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.

  • Ensure end-to-end alignment across MES, automation, quality, warehouse management system, ERP, historian, reporting, traceability, and manufacturing data platforms.

  • Design solutions that meet business, operational, regulatory, performance, scalability, availability, cybersecurity, and maintainability requirements.

  • Lead architecture reviews and act as the design authority for all major MES / MoM initiatives.

  • Govern technical debt, lifecycle management, version strategy, environment management, and long-term platform sustainability.

  • Drive architecture evolution supporting new production lines, additional Gigafactory deployments, and future digital transformation initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with ISA-95, ISA-88, cybersecurity standards, and manufacturing best practices.

  • Promote standardization, reusability, and consistency across all manufacturing software solutions.

Knowledge and Internal Capability Development

  • Lead the transition from externally delivered MES solutions to sustainable internal ownership and technical autonomy.

  • Define, govern, and execute a structured knowledge transfer strategy covering architecture, software development, platform administration, integrations, deployment processes, support operations, and governance practices.

  • Establish and maintain architecture documentation, technical reference models, reusable design patterns, support procedures, technical decision records, and implementation guidelines.

  • Mentor and coach MES developers, technical leads, and future architects to build long-term internal competencies.

  • Develop training frameworks, onboarding materials, and technical learning roadmaps to accelerate capability growth within the MES organization

  • Facilitate architecture reviews, technical workshops, design walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Automation, IT, and Data teams.

  • Build autonomy by ensuring critical platform knowledge is distributed and retained within ACC.

Solution Architecture and Development Leadership

  •  Define and govern the architecture of MES and MoM applications built on the AVEVA technology stack, including Application Server, OMI, Historian, Reports, Work Tasks, Communication Drivers, and SQL Server technologies.

  • Design robust, scalable, maintainable, and reusable software solutions supporting manufacturing execution, production traceability, quality management, material management, and operational performance improvement.

  • Establish reusable application frameworks, object models, development standards, naming conventions, coding guidelines, and software engineering best practices for all MES developments.

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to internal and external development teams throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Review and validate solution designs, implementation approaches, and code quality to ensure alignment with architectural standards and long-term maintainability objectives.

  • Define application lifecycle management, release management, source control, DevOps, testing, deployment, and environment management practices for the MES platform.

  • Govern integration architecture across PLC, SCADA, ERP (, Warehouse Management System, Quality Management, Traceability, Historian, Data Platforms, Analytics, and enterprise middleware solutions.

  • Define interface standards, data ownership models, communication patterns, monitoring strategies, and integration governance principles.

  • Support proof-of-concepts, technical prototypes, and complex problem resolution for high-impact manufacturing initiatives.

  • Architecture Governance and Stakeholder Engagement Act as the technical authority and architectural representative for ACC's MES and Manufacturing Operations Management (MoM) ecosystem.

  • Lead architectural engagements with AVEVA, system integrators, technology suppliers, and external delivery partners to ensure alignment with ACC standards, target architecture, and long-term platform strategy.

  • Review, challenge, and approve partner solution designs, technical specifications, development approaches, integration strategies, and implementation proposals.

  • Establish effective governance mechanisms to ensure consistency, quality, maintainability, scalability, and compliance across all MES-related initiatives.

  • Provide technical leadership during project initiation, solution definition, estimation, budgeting, and roadmap planning activities.

  • Support strategic technology decisions through architecture assessments, trade-off analysis, and risk evaluation.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, architectural, cybersecurity, integration, and operational risks across the MES landscape.

  • Ensure all delivered solutions align with ACC architecture principles, software engineering standards, and long-term supportability objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Automation, IT, Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics, and Operations teams to ensure business needs are translated into scalable technical solutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement of vendor performance, delivery quality, technical standards, and knowledge transfer effectiveness.
