As part of the TAXUD-PEP framework contract, we are supporting the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) in strengthening its operational cybersecurity capabilities.
We are now looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Specialist to join this mission and play a pivotal role in securing the digital assets that support tax and customs operations across the EU.

As a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist, you will be responsible for managing vulnerability and patch management, incident coordination, and technical advisory tasks within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You will work closely with DG TAXUD internal teams and external contractors, ensuring that security risks are properly managed and mitigated post-deployment.
Your mission will include coordinating security activities, reviewing technical documentation, leading meetings, and providing actionable guidance on security processes and incident management.
Your Responsibilities
Manage vulnerability lifecycle using tools like Tenable, including scanning, assessment, and remediation tracking
Oversee patch management and IT asset inventory through CMDB
Coordinate IT security incident responses and investigations
Review and advise on security design documents and operational procedures
Lead and coordinate regular workshops and meetings with international teams and contractors
Provide hands-on testing and validation of security systems in simulated environments
Support compliance with EU cybersecurity regulations, including NIS2
Act as a trusted advisor on operational security risks and technical controls
Ensure smooth coordination among multiple contractors and internal security teams
Mandatory Requirements
Solid experience in IT security
Proven expertise with vulnerability management tools (especially Tenable) and endpoint protection (e.g., Carbon Black)
Experience in incident management and risk handling in complex international environments
Knowledge of patch management and IT asset management (CMDB)
Hands-on, proactive problem solver who can independently manage issues and implement practical security solutions
Excellent communication and coordination skills in multicultural and multilingual settings
Fluent in English (C1 or higher)
Nice to Have
Experience with SIEM, firewalls, IPS/IDS, and Web Application Firewalls
Familiarity with privileged identity management and tools like HashiCorp Vault
Understanding of cryptography, network security, and IAM concepts
Knowledge of GDPR and other EU regulatory frameworks
