Job description
To support our growth, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Portfolio Manager to join the Portfolio Management team of our AIFM. The Portfolio Manager will be working directly with impact investment advisors and portfolio managers, who invest globally in various impact sectors such as agriculture, biodiversity, climate, inclusive finance, etc.
Key responsibilities include:
Portfolio Management Activities
Monitoring portfolio management delegates, ensuring alignment with investment strategies, policies and regulatory limits
Review and analyse investment and divestment proposals in coordination with investment advisors appointed by the AIFM
Monitor fund performance, capital deployment, pipeline status, and liquidity needs
Contribute to investment decision-making process as a voting member of the AIFM Investment Committee
Advisor & Delegate Oversight
Collaborate closely with appointed investment advisors, ensuring proper execution of the investment strategy, and regular performance review.
Where portfolio management is delegated, oversee and monitor delegate compliance with mandates and regulatory standards.
Conduct ongoing due diligence on advisors and delegates, including site visits and periodic performance assessments.
Governance & Regulatory Compliance
Support and prepare reporting to both AIFM and AIF management bodies relating to the portfolio management function
Contribute to regulatory filings and CSSF queries as needed
Monitor investment restrictions and risk limits in collaboration with Risk and Compliance teams
Client Engagement & Onboarding
Act as a key point of contact for asset managers, advisors, and fund initiators on portfolio-related matters.
Participate in the onboarding of new funds and clients, including investment strategy assessment and internal approval processes.
Support the creation and review of investment guidelines, operating models, and advisory agreements.
Participation and support to fund raising discussion with potential LPs in relation to the investment strategies of the funds under management
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor junior professionals within the Portfolio Management team
Support the Conducting Officer of Portfolio Management in the overall development of the Portfolio Management framework of the AIFM including internal projects, review of policies and procedures
Contribute to other team projects when required, identify ways to increase efficiencies in the portfolio operations process while maintaining high quality.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field; CFA or CAIA is a plus
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in portfolio management or investment oversight, ideally within an AIFM, asset manager, or investment firm
Solid understanding of AIFMD, CSSF Circular 18/698, and Luxembourg regulatory framework
Experience working with or as an investment advisor, or managing advisor relationships
Strong familiarity with impact investment strategies, including PE, RE, private debt, and infrastructure
Good analytical skills with attention to details, critical thinking, proactive and structured approach to solving problems. Ability to conceive, embrace, manage and implement positive change
Effective communicator and relationship builder, able to interface confidently with clients and advisor
Proficiency in Excel, analytical tools and simple programming languages
Strong ability to work with tight deadlines, to respond swiftly and effectively to unforeseen situations in a client-focused environment, flexibility to adapt within a dynamic working environment.
Working knowledge of Impact Investing and the SFDR regulation and its practical implementation to portfolio management operations would be a plus
