Your role :

The Project Development Forester will support Triton’s Resource Assessment & Development Team to achieve these core objectives 🎯:

• Define and develop a pipeline of reservoirs from resource prospection (reservoirs with trees) to licensed timber reserves (reservoirs with commercially viable timber, secured through concession agreement). Through this development pipeline, analysis of forest resources, environment and biodiversity considerations, economics, and operational parameters are completed.

• Develop business in a sustainable and economically viable way

• Execute the business plan to construct & launch the operation.

• Follow life of reservoir plan through lifecycle of projects.

The Project Development Forester will have the following core responsibilities:

🌳Forestry & Environment

• Reservoir assessments from preliminary reviews through full scale inventory assessments.

• Develop reservoir licensing, concession and permitting requirements to gain tenure for harvesting.

• Develop and execute environmental impact assessment requirements as per legislated requirements, IFC standards, etc.

• Support development of Harvesting and Environmental Management Plans

• Establish and maintain Life of Reservoir Plans

• Establish and maintain forest inventory databases based on available forest inventory reports, actual harvesting results and forest decay projections

📊Reports & Data Analysis

• Analyze and develop forest inventory data sets

• Write forest inventory reports

• Build and maintain project schedules and budgets

• Provide key reservoir operational metrics to support business modelling

💼GIS & Database Management

• GIS mapping and data analysis projects related to reservoir mapping, forest stratification and bathymetry modeling

Triton Ambassador

• Liase with reservoir owners & government agencies and local stakeholders such as suppliers, universities or NGO’s

• Manage relationships with consultants and contractors

Profile

Education & Experience: A natural resource management professional with a specialization in Forestry or related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressively senior roles. You’ve got an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work as part of a remote team.

Forestry Skills: You have solid skills related to GIS, GPS, cartography, navigation, and inventory analysis and are all around comfortable working in environments from remote field locations to desk-based data analysis and report writing.

Communication: You have great written and verbal communication skills.

Language: You have a professional level of spoken and written English. Bi-lingual in French or Portuguese is an asset.

Personality: You are self-motivated, have a great sense of humour and a high level of emotional maturity. You love to travel and bring passion and patience to your Team.

🎉A few more: You have a passport & valid class 5 driver’s licence. Marine experience is an asset!
