Job Title: Project Manager - Civil Engineer (Eco-Resort Construction)
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Start Date: January 2025
We are looking for a highly experienced Civil Engineer to lead the construction of an eco-resort in Dar es Salaam. This project emphasizes Responsible Social and Environmental (RSE) practices, integrating sustainable construction methods and eco-friendly design principles. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects and a passion for sustainability and innovation in construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Oversee the entire construction lifecycle, from initial planning to project delivery, ensuring adherence to environmental standards and RSE principles.
Coordination: Collaborate with architects, environmental consultants, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution while focusing on sustainable building practices.
Compliance: Ensure that the project complies with local building regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines, including sustainable resource management.
Sustainable Practices: Lead efforts to incorporate eco-friendly materials and green technologies into the construction process, promoting low-impact construction methods.
Leadership: Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high standards of work and safety on-site.
Budget and Scheduling: Oversee the procurement of materials, manage project budgets, and maintain project timelines, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, sustainability goals, budget status, and any potential risks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Professional Engineering Registration (e.g., PE or equivalent).
Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering and project management, with a focus on infrastructure projects, including resorts, hospitality, or eco-conscious developments.
Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with demonstrated knowledge of sustainable construction practices.
Strong understanding of green building standards (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
Experience with procurement of eco-friendly materials, project scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation.
Leadership skills: Ability to lead teams in challenging environments, solve technical issues on-site, and ensure quality construction practices.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and RSE practices.
Preferred Experience:
Extensive experience in multinational project environments, working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Experience in integrating renewable energy, waste management systems, and other environmentally-friendly technologies into construction projects.
