Senior Aerodynamics Engineer (all gender)

At Ascendance we are building tomorrow’s hybrid-electric aviation with ATEA, a unique Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft powered by STERNA, our in-house hybrid-electric propulsion system. We focus our efforts in designing an innovative, safe, silent, clean and affordable aircraft that will be able to blend into existing infrastructures and regulations to ease its deployment and maximise social acceptance.

Your role : 🔎

You will have an important role in Overall Aircraft Design team which is responsible for flight physics activities. As a senior aerodynamicist you will be in charge of internal / external / fixed wing / rotary wings aerodynamic studies from design to ground and flight tests. 

Your main responsibilities will be : 

• Consolidating prediction capabilities with regards to the various test campaigns already performed (scaled flight tests, windtunnel, scale 1 fan-in-wing test bench)
• Leading aerodynamic studies including rotary wings and propose design improvements with rationalized trade-offs
• Leading aero-thermal studies for heat evacuation
• Specifying and selecting adequate component for flight test instruments, e.g. anemometry
• Consolidating the modeling and experimental roadmaps related to aerodynamic design
• Managing the aerodynamic testing campaign from planning to post-processing and design iterations
• Complying with certification requirements
• Leading a team of aerodynamicists
• Interfacing with the building block leaders (airframe, propulsion, avionics, …) to identify most optimal solutions

The job has been made for you if you have : 🛠

• A master degree from Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in aerodynamics
• Skills in various levels of modeling with multidisciplinary skills
• Testing experience (windtunnel testing, ground or flight tests)
• Knowledge of Part 23 and/or Part 27
• Experience in Catia 
• Knowledge of OpenFoam is a plus
