We are seeking a highly experienced Accounting Specialist with expertise in Senegalese tax law, IFRS, and international tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in tax planning, accounting operations, and compliance. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex financial scenarios and ensure adherence to local and international regulations.
Responsibilities:
Tax Planning & Strategy:
Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws, considering double taxation treaties and the Multilateral Convention.
Advise on tax implications of business decisions and transactions, including investments, mergers, acquisitions, and intercompany transactions.
Proactively identify tax planning opportunities and implement strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
Prepare and review transfer pricing documentation and policies.
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns and declarations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage tax audits, interact with tax authorities, and resolve tax-related issues.
Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company.
Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements, including tax, statistical, and central bank reporting.
Review and approve tax calculations prepared by external consultants.
Accounting Operations & Financial Management:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports, adhering to IFRS and local accounting standards.
Manage fixed assets, inventory valuation, and depreciation schedules.
Review and analyze monthly financial statements and provide insights to management.
Collaborate with external bookkeeping companies and auditors to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
Develop and implement internal accounting policies and procedures.
Oversee foreign trade accounting and customs brokerage operations.
Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Provide financial data for budgeting and forecasting.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations.
Liaise with external stakeholders, such as tax consultants, auditors, and government agencies.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred.
4+ years of experience in tax and accounting, with a focus on Senegalese and international regulations.
Proven track record in tax planning, compliance, and reporting.
In-depth knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards, and transfer pricing regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proficient in SAGE accounting software, SAP (or other ERP systems), and MS Office Suite.
