Magellium (Artal Group), with its 300 employees, is an independent player specialising in the remote sensing data and digital image processing (from satellite or drone sensors to their use in Earth observation systems and services, mapping and geo-intelligence), promoting expertise in space technologies, software, signal processing and geomatics.
As part of its Earth Observation activities, Magellium is involved in major programmes run by space or operational agencies. These Earth observation projects implement scientific processing chains for payloads on-board satellites.
These processing chains, whether prototypes or operational, are developed with a view to integration into the ground segments of satellite missions. The specificity of this processing lies in the combined knowledge of algorithmic remote sensing techniques and the methodological, organisational and IT engineering of the processing chains in an environment that is often constrained by the need for robustness and performance.
We are seeking for a Technical Team Leader to manage the development of Earth Observation ground segments.
You are going to start working on a project for a European organisation, whose aim is to measure the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) released into the atmosphere as a result of anthropic activity. These measurements are obtained from satellite data processed by the software modules we are developing.
Within a year, you will be responsible for the technical management of up to 3 parallel projects (each one involving between 2 and 5 people), particularly in the fields of environmental monitoring and climate change studies. You will be responsible for guaranteeing the technical quality of our deliverables (processing and development in fixed-price mode) and will therefore have a technical steering role.
In this role, your main tasks will include:
Specification, supervision of developments and monitoring of technical validation,
Operational management of a small team, including the allocation of technical tasks,
Writing the technical documentation corresponding to the major development stages (milestones, reviews, technical points),
Managing the technical interfaces with the customers, subcontractors or partners.
Depending on your skills and ambitions, you may be asked to either design processing chains or take part in preparing technical proposals in response to calls for tender
You have a solid experience in IT development and, at least, one experience in technical team management. You are passionate about the space industry.
Hard skills:
Proficiency in scientific programming,
Proficiency in requirements engineering,
Proficiency in applied mathematics, in particular signal processing,
Proficiency in technical documents writing,
Ability to negotiate and interact technically with various actors (customers, partners and subcontractors).
Soft skills:
Good adaptability,
Excellent interpersonal skills, sense of teamwork and clear communication,
Autonomy, sense of responsibility and commitment.
Additional skills:
Familiarity with space ground segments,
Familiarity with development lifecycle methodologies,
Familiarity with engineering standards (ECSS or equivalent),
A minimum professional proficiency in French is highly desirable.
Career development:
Project responsibilities and team management.
